Sy Oliver Sy Oliver,Melvin James Oliver, was born on December 17,1910 in dispute Creek Michigan. Sys mother taught piano and his father knew how to run into every instrument and they taught a medication class in Ohio. Sys father used to help the leading ships company of saxophones sell in the early 1900s in America. His father as well was known loc in all in ally for his chorus, he would economise their music and at that place Sy basic saw that writing music was possible. Sy grew up all around music, he was only bound to be in the music industry. When his father became ill, Sy being the oldest of six children had to finish school and support the family. Sys first experience of jazz was the McKinney cotton plant Pickers; they played near Springfield, Ohio where Sy spent his childhood. He first began to write music because he had seen his father do it for the church choir so it was not something new to him. Sy never wanted to grew up and be in the music industry, it just simply happened when he wanted to be able to help his family and attend school. The first raft he joined was Zack Whites band.

wherefore later after his fathers passing, Sy moved to the Lunceford band in July of 1933. The Lunceford band was surprisingly a hit! He played in openings for bands and in places throughout New York. Although Sy close up never got around to going to school, he loved play music. Then Sy became an arranger to write the music for the bands and help thump them gigs. He began service people like Trummy Young, Ted Buckner and Willie Smith and with helping people like them; he created what people called the Sy Oliver style. After all this occurred, Oliver made his way to the Tommy Dorsey.
