This research seeks to investigate the extent to which dancehall music has influenced the current behavioural pattern of form three students at Couva West and Sangre Grande inessential schools. Dancehall music has become one of the most popular tuneful genres throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Its popularity forces its involvement in most school events. just it has been argued that this genre of music has affected our young people negatively with its pulsating rhythms and catchy lyrics. At present students are forming gangs, stealing from former(a) students, showing a lack of respect to teachers and each other, creating full-grown movies on cell phones and altering their school uniforms to suit the mold trend among other things. These behavioral trends therefore have had a massive negative impact on the student’s academic performance.
The aim of this study is to provide strategic plans for parents, educators and other interested individuals, so that they can help curb this depressing situation. An important factor is that the issue is real, although the cause is not certain. To train that this project is done effectively certain methodology and methods leave behind be applied.
The methodology includes both an ethnographic and a soft approach. Among these the methods that will be used are direct observations, brass studies, and qualitative interviewing and focus group discussions.
