Throughout the readings of British Literature, the women characters are the ones who face the most criticism. Each time period has their let expectation of the women figures. They are expected to dress and act in an appropriate manner, which is submissive and inferior to men. Geoffrey Chaucer uses his character, Alison the married woman of Bath, to break by dint of scripted boundaries.
