As such, the long-lasting protection of this heritage is of the highest importance to the international community as a whole(unesco.org 2014).\nEssentially, this means that the heritage of a fussy locale chosen as a being heritage site needs to be translated into a globose talking to. to a greater extent specifically, I maintain that heritage needs to be translated into the language of tourism, while simultaneously macrocosm preserved. Global heritage tourism, a force that can clear n ational boundaries, becomes the mechanism by which many World Heritage sites are understood and appreciated. \nThis paper seeks to explore the tensions amidst the heritage preservation and heritage commercialisation prompted by global heritage tourism inwardly the World Heritage site of Hoi An, Vietnam. Acting as a sort of global brand, I argue that UNESCOs missionary work of Hoi An as a World Heritage site perpetuates its commercialization by constructing a romanticized whim of authenticity that turns its heritage into a marketable product.
