Anna was a normal, 21-year-old peeress who cared for her sick dad that was dying. Then, her father finally died and her symptoms got even worse. She rejected any food given to her, she developed a sort of paralysis where she lost all feeling in her hands and feet, and she even began to have involuntary spasms and hallucinations. None of her symptoms could be connected to any physical causes though. After Breuer spoke with Anna a few times, he stumbled upon a very important intimation to her symptoms. He found that during their sessions, Anna would sometimes fall into a posit of hypnosis where she could recount to him these weird daytime fantasies and other experiences that she had. These daytime fantasies could rationalize the reasons for all of her strange symptoms and once Anna understood the reasoning asshole the symptom, it would slowly go away.

However, Anna kept developing new symptoms and ultimately even fell in love with Breuer.
