The health care system in the United States has faced many challenges, in 1996 congress passed the wellness Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), under the sponsorship of Senator Edward Kennedy (D. Mass) and Nancy Kassebaum (R-Kan). Under HIPAA do byt rule, a patient has the right over their health entropy and sets limits and rule on who can receive or breast at their health information. Although, there was a critical fate to balance the cling toion of patient healthcare information, HIPAA, has created steps to cherish the individuals information along with provision of neat disclosure under special circumstance. In this paper, I go forth discuss the administrative ethic, legal, the managerial responsibilities issues the privacy rule and the feign it has on the population.
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA), which was enacted in 1996, require that the Health and Human Service (HHS) to adopt and support electronic data interchange for a variety of financial and administrative healthcare. In 2000, the HHS published a final privacy rule, which was subsequent modified in 2002, which set national standards for protecting the integrity, availableness and confidentiality of protected health information.
Under the HIPPA privacy rule, the tribute of individualised health information that is held by healthcare provider and cover entities must treat patient information confidentially and protect its security with respect to their health care information. It also outlines standards for the protection of the privacy of medical record and other confidential health care information that is maintained by healthcare providers (HHS. gov)
