After a few failed attempts, the tinker starts to show interest in Elisas flowers. This immediately changes Elisas mood and she is more than than willing to talk to the tinker. The man tells her that he knows a woman who is looking to grow chrysanthemums and asks Elisa for some seeds to take her. Elisa tells him that it is much easier to root the sprouts and offers to give him a few in a pot.
The man says that he will take them to the skirt and Elisa runs with excitement to get the pot. After she has finishing potting the flowers for the woman, the man asks again if Elisa has anything for him to mend. Elisa says yes and brings a couple of old pans. After mending them, the tinker thanks Elisa and is back on the road. Elisa watches him drive away and then quickly runs to shower and get restless for dinner. Henry comes home, tells Elisa she looks strong, and gets ready for dinner. They get in the car and head into town. On the way, Elisa sees the flowers that she gave the man earlier that day on the side of the road.
